Langais

Talisman. A cup carved using neolithic techniques from fallen pine in the planted Langais woodland, burned with pine needles, animal bones from a nearby midden, and a blood offering. The remains of the fire were bonded together with beeswax and pine resin glue made from the trees in the wood. The sounds of the fire were recorded and hold the intertwined stories and histories of this land and what has grown from it.

Beinn Langais on North Uist holds a small planted woodland and three sites of neolithic importance: a group of cup-marked stones, Barpa Langais chambered burial cairn, and Pobull Fhinn stone circle.
